Adhyay 1, shlok 39 is from the Bhagavad Gita, an ancient Hindu text, and it reads as follows:
एषा तेऽभिहिता सांख्ये बुद्धिर्योगे त्विमां शृणु। बुद्ध्या युक्तो यया पार्थ कर्मबन्धं प्रहास्यसि।।
This shlok can be transliterated as:
eshaa te'abhihitaa saankhye buddhiryoge tva imaam shrunu buddhyaa yukto yayaa paartha karmabandham prahaasyasi
Now, to explain the shlok in simple words:
In this shlok, Lord Krishna explains to Arjuna that he has just given him knowledge of two paths: the path of knowledge (Sankhya) and the path of action (Yoga). He encourages Arjuna to listen to both paths with attention and then choose one with a focused mind.
Lord Krishna tells Arjuna that if he chooses the path of action (Yoga) and performs his duties with a focused mind and intelligence, then he will be able to break free from the bondage of karma. He reminds Arjuna that by doing so, he will attain ultimate liberation or Moksha.
Thus, in this shlok, Lord Krishna is encouraging Arjuna to listen carefully to both the path of knowledge and the path of action, and then to choose the path that he feels is right for him. He is reminding Arjuna that by performing his duties with intelligence and focus, he can attain ultimate liberation from the cycle of birth and death.
